Grossmann 2024 film program is online. The festival will take place from the 11th to the 15th of June in Ljutomer.
The honorary guest will be legendary Serbian director Slobodan Šijan. We will honour him with a star on the Walk of Fame and a retrospective featuring restored versions of his masterpieces Who's Singin' Over There and Strangler vs. Strangler.
We will also be visited by French director Julien Maury (together with Alexandre Bustillo one of the most prominent contemporary genre authors), Serbian director Mladen Djordjević (author of cult classi The Life and Death of a Porno Gang, he will present his new film Working Class Goes to Hell), Spanish directing duo Marisa Crespo & Moisés Romera, Turkish director Orçun Behram and Luxembourgian director Loïc Tanson.
In our Vicious Cat competition, five fierce films will compete for the Best Feature Film award: French vampire thriller Bitten (Romain de Saint-Blanquat), Turkish zombie horror The Funeral (Orçun Behram), Spanish occult thriller You're Not Me (Marisa Crespo, Moisés Romera), French-Belgian crime thriller The Soul Eater (Alexandre Bustillo, Julien Maury) and Italian splatter horror The Well (Federico Zampaglione).
This year, our program will also feature two new Slovenian genre films, backwoods thriller It Was a Beautiful Day (Perica Rai) and horror comedy The Hole (Dejan Babosek), with filmmakers, cast and crew in attendance.
There will also be our short film and music documentray competition program, Cultpix Marathon, films for children and youth and numerous attractive titles out of competition, such as Australian creature feature Sting (Kiah Roache-Turner), Canadian-French zombie comedy We Are Zombies (RKSS), Luxembourgian historical western The Last Ashes (Loïc Tanson) Argentinian horror Deus Irae (Pedro Cristiani), Belgian dark comedy Life's a Bitch (Xavier Seron), Canadian bleak thriller Red Rooms (Pascal Plante), Spanish folk horror The Wait (F. Javier Gutiérrez), American anti-slaher In a Violent Nature (Chris Nash) and Kazakhstani horror hit Dastur (Kuanysh Beisek).
The program will feature some more updates, while the wine and acommpanying program will be published soon. Besides workshops and master classes, there will of course also be the traditional Zombie Walk on Saturday, June 15th.
Before that, you're invited to two warm-up events for this year's fest. On May 30th at 20h, there will be a screening of French horror film Vermins (Sébastien Vaniček) at Art Kino Odeon in Izola, while on May 31st at 18h, there will be the official opening of the Film Cellar in Unterhund club in Ormož featuring a screening of Austrian thriller Goodnight Mommy (Veronika Franz, Severin Fiala), with co-director Severin Fiala in attendance.
